Twelve of the Worst Social Media Mistakes and How to Avoid Them


Forbes recently asked a select group of marketing experts about what they consider some of the worst social media mistakes and how companies could avoid them. Glance Networks’ own Holly Chessman was one of those asked to share their opinion.

Social media has become a powerful marketing tool for any business, as well as an effective way to nurture relationships, gain customers and become more visible in your industry. But what social media giveth, it can just as easily taketh away if your messages and interactions with followers aren’t on point.

Whether a brand is posting self-promotional content, ignoring their target audience, being too controversial as a way to garner attention or simply using a hashtag incorrectly, any of these social media mishaps could cost you in terms of brand image and customer base.

Oh, the pain when companies use hashtags just because they sound like they would fit well with the business’s message. First things first: Do a search to see what folks are using that hashtag for.
